glowing review to robert gordons "satisfied mind"
Ron Wynn of 'City Paper Online' gave Robert's new album 'Satisfied Mind' a glowing review (06/16/05): "He's always had one of the most dramatic, deep and prominent voices in the rock universe, and Robert Gordon sings with characteristic power and fury on his newest effort recorded locally and spiced by contributions from guitarist/bassist Eddie Angel, pianist/organist Johnny Neel, bassist Dave Roe, saxophonist Dennis Taylor, drummer Jimmy Lester and steel guitarist/fiddler Fats Kaplan. Gordon belts his way through contemporary and classic rockabilly, blues, country, pop and soul, excelling on Sleepy La Beef's "Ain't Gonna Take It No More," Lee Hazelwood's "These Boots Are Made For Walking" and Quinton Claunch's "Mama's Little Baby" among others, while also powering through "Sea of Heartbreak" and "Turn Me Loose." But perhaps his finest vocal comes on the cover of "A Satisfied Mind" which provides a notable tribute to Porter Wagoner's original while again highlighting Gordon's ability to neatly update and reconfigure classic American music".

You Don't Own Me (Stephen W. Parsons), 4. Why Are People Like That (Bobby Charles), 5. Please Don't (Spedding / Claudia Koeze), 6. Nobody (Spedding / Parsons) 7. Hear Your Daddy (Spedding / Koeze), 8. Ramblin' (Ornette Coleman), 9. How To Get Rid Of The Blues (Spedding), 10. No Other Baby (Bishop / Watson), 11. Click Clack (Don Van Vliet), 12. chris spedding and roxy music gave a solid concert
horsens,  denmark - june 18
Despite a somewhat disappointing turnout, Roxy Music gave a solid, workmanlike performance in Lunden Park in Horsens (Denmark). The organizers had hoped for an attendance of 5,000, but there were only about 1,000 to 1,500 fans present. However, the weather was great, the soundsystem was excellent and the band was in fine form, so it was a good night. It was great to see Chris again backstage, and we discussed some details of the September tour. He told me that he is really looking forward to that tour. Click here to see photos from that show.

robert gordon's voice stronger than ever
finland, june 17-18
Finnish fan Petri Hoppula writes: "Robert's gig at Friday night was just great! The maestro's voice sounded stronger than ever, and also in general he seemed to be in a good mood and exceptionally relaxed. Too bad this time the backing group Red Hot wasn't at its best. The lead guitarist Tommy Lyijynen had broke his elbow, and while he couldn't play, the regular rhythm guitarist P. Kallonen had a hard job to replace him (they also had a 2nd guitarist but naturally he just settled for playing the basic chord rhythm, not a single solo in whole evening). The set itself was quite versatile (compared to a couple of previous Gordon gigs that I've seen). Right after the standard start (The Way I Walk), Robert got the crowd absolutely wild by giving us a dynamite version of Move It. Majority of his repertoire was country-oriented stuff, ballads and medium tempo rockers (mostly from the 'Satisfied Mind' CD) such as Hello Walls, Sea Of Heartbreak, Little Boy Sad, There You Go, Sweet Nothin's, Susie Q etc. Of course the show ended with the classic rock'n'roll tunes, and everybody in the house got what they wanted".
